A frontline Rights Activist, Comrade Israel Joe has appreciated the Nigerian Federal government after he influenced the rehabilitation of the Warri refinery,  Reactivation of the Osubi Airport through his advocacy in Delta State.

Israel Joe, an executive member of the commitee for the Defence of Human Rights, CDHR, Expressed his commitment and  support towards the economic vibrancy of Delta state and Nigeria at large.



Reafirming his commitment, he said "On behalf of the Youths of Delta State and representing the entire Southern Youths, I wish to commend the federal government for the approval of the rehabilitation of the Warri refinery" 

Israel Joe expressed satisfaction that the concerted struggle of the Youths has yielding positive results as more devemental impact is worth hoping for.

Counting achievements of the strugles by the youths he said, "The Warri refinery, Osubi Airport reopening, the Delta or Premium Steel Company and the Nigeria Ports Authorities (NPA) Warri were our cardinal demand during the October 2020 #EndSARS protest in Warri which critically includes the rejections of Police brutality, extortion, harassment and extra-judicial killings".

"In a town hall meeting with the executive governor of Delta State in Warri and Asaba precisely and a meeting with the Minister of Youths Sunday Dare at Asaba respectively, we canvassed these cardinal demands. While the government took it seriously to attend to these demands, we followed up with several letters to authorities".
"We are glad that a whopping $586 million dollars have been earmarked for the Warri refinery rehabilitation duly approved by the FEC yesterday, which of course would put us in the economic hub in the region after completion. We shall ensure a follow-up on the process and ensure we track the funds to be used for the purpose for which it was approved".

"We want to thank the government for the resumption of the airport and also remind the federal authorities that our letters for the Warri Seaport and Premium Steel companies are also on their tables so they could expedite actions as well".

Retired police officers protest over unpaid pensions

Some retired police officers under the contributory pension scheme on Tuesday, May 21, protested at the National Assembly over alleged several months of unpaid pensions with a call on President Bola Tinubu to remove them from the scheme. The protesters decried the extreme challenges they endure, saying that the National Pension Commission (PENCOM) has failed to pay their entitlements for several months causing them and their families untold hardship.
