Reminiscences on our heroines - - Dr. Madeleine  Albright (1937-2022) and Professor Grace Alele-Williams (1932-2022)  By Godknows Igali The global community was recently thrown into intense melancholy as the gates of eternity opened to Dr. Madeleine Albright and Professor Grace Alele-Williams, two of humanity’s greatest matriarchs that ever lived.  In a seeming relay, the former died on 23rd March 2022 in Washington DC, the United States capital, shortly followed by one who could rightly be called her sister, on 25th March, 2022 in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial capital.  As both sad events occurred in the month of celebration of womanhood, the tributes in their memory have resonated with deeper appreciation.   This is even more so as the United States Senate, just days after, confirmed the nomination of the first black woman, Ketanji Brown-Jackson to the country’s Supreme Court, 250 years since existence of that institution. HOW URHOBO POLITICIANS UNDERDEVELOPED URHOBO (1999-Present)

HOW URHOBO POLITICIANS UNDERDEVELOPED URHOBO (1999-Present) By By Zik Gbemre Politicians of Urhobo Extraction have been underdeveloping Urhobo since 1999 There is the need for a paradigm shift to replace these power-usurping, non-performing political actors with a new breed of patriotic Urhobo leaders.*_ Urhobo land has suffered consistent neglect and underdevelopment since 1999. That year was the beginning of the 4th Republic after almost two decades of military rule, with the only hiatus being the short-lived Babangida transition programme of 1992-93. Urhobo underdevelopment is in all facets: infrastructural, economic, education, health, culture, etc. Urhoboland is now synonymous with poverty, joblessness, insecurity of all forms, infrastructural decay, unemployment, despondency, depravity etc. Indeed Urhobo land, it can be said, is the poverty capital of Delta State, with most of the Urhobo youths consigned to tricycling/ motorcycling (okada) riding. But things have not
