Shagari, Former President Laid To Rest In Sokoto The remains of the former President Shehu Shagari, were on Saturday committed to mother earth in his hometown, Shagari, Shagari Local Government Area of Sokoto state. The former president had passed on Friday at the age of 93. He was interred at exactly 3.30pm following a funeral prayers led by Professor Shehu Galadanchi, former Vice Chancellor, Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto. Earlier in the day, his corpse was received at Sultan Abubakar Airport, Sokoto by a delegation of Sokoto State government led by Governor Aminu Tambuwal. Notable personalities who attended the burial included a delegation of the Federal government led by Boss Mustapha, Secretary to Government of the Federation. Also at the burial were governors of   Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states, Tambuwal,Abubakar Atiku Bagudu and Abdul-aziz Yari Abubakar. Police Rescue Kidnapped Catholic Priests In Anambra AWKA –  A joint patrol team comprising police special teams of Federal Special Anti Robbery Squad (FSARS), Police Mobile Force (PMF), Counter Terrorism Special Anti Cults units in conjunction with other sister security agencies and the Vigilante group have successfully rescued the two Catholic priests kidnapped on Christmas eve. A statement issued by Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, Mohammed Haruna said, the feat was achieved on Thursday following a joint operations with the sister agencies. It said that since the kidnap, the agencies mounted an intensive search and rescue operations for the priests with the aid of modern technology and aerial surveillance. According to him, due to difficult terrain, the abductors were forced to abandon their victims at about 6:45pm on Thursday, December 27. Kogi Assembly Commends Dogara To Revive Ajaokuta Steel Company The Kogi State House of Assembly has commended the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr Yakubu Dogara, for his efforts toward reviving the comatose Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited. The Lawmakers said they recognised Dodara’s leadership and advocacy in revitalising the steel company ”which has the potential of generating over three million jobs when fully functional.” The Speaker of the state assembly, Mr Prince Kolawole, gave the commendation in a letter released to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), on Friday in Abuja, by Turaki Hassan, Special Adviser on Media to Dogara. Alex Badeh’s Driver Not Dead, Receiving Treatment, Says NAF By Ezekiel Kagbala Alex Sabundu Badeh The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says the driver of Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh, former Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), is alive and receiving treatment at an Air Force hospital, according to Wire.ng reports. Badeh was shot dead by unidentified gunmen on Tuesday night on his way back from his farm along Abuja-Kebbi road. Pictures of the scene of the attack emerged online and attracted mixed reactions from Nigerians on the social media. It was earlier reported that his driver was shot dead alongside him, but Nigerian Air Force has described such information as false. According to a statement by Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, NAF’s Director of Public Relations and Information, the driver is alive and recuperating well at one of the Air Force’s hospitals.
