The Executive Chairman of Ethiope East local government area of Delta state, Rt. Hon. (Pharm) Victor Ofobrukueta, on behalf his family, good people Ethiope East, Deltans and Nigeria at large congratulated the political guru and symbol of greatness, Chief James Onanefe Ibori, the Odidi-gborigbo of Africa on his auspicious occasion of his 63 birthday anniversary.

The Ethiope East Council boss, Rt. Hon. (Pharm.) Victor Ofobrukueta, who gave this congratulatory message through his Press Secretary, Mr. Akpevwe Ehwarieme, while celebrating the political icon in a grand style for his excellent performance as governor of Delta state in a popular hotel in Ughelli, said there is none like Chief James Ibori.

While describing Ibori as a political colossus of Delta Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and the entire PDP family across the globe, the galant Ethiope East Chairman, Ofobrukueta, said the Ibori dynasty has been a fulfilled and sustained in all sphere of live from the inception of his administration from 1999 till date and still waxing stronger.

Giving accolades to the man that honour is due, the Ethiope East Council boss, Ofobrukueta reeled out his words with touching encomium, " From 1999 to 2007 that Chief James Onanefe Ibori, held the affairs as governor of Delta State, brought a new breath of live to all his teaming supporters in other to maintain the Ibori dynasty, which till date from the East, South, West and North, the bond of oneness is still being sustained in respective of ethnic or religion.

"Chief James Ibori has always ensures the dynasty is sustained at all times, hence, he has never relented in giving all the maximum supports to every candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party from the wards to the state and for the purpose of continuity, and this he has exhibited from the administration of the former governor, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan and the present administration of Sen. Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa, mostly on the initiative of the SMART Agenda.

"While in office, Chief James Ibori, ensure no community in Delta state was left behind, hence every nook and cranny of the state was developed both in infrastructures, human capital development and several bridges connected to various and mostly riverine communities to enhance development in all parts of the state.

"As we your PDP political family celebrate your 63 years birthday anniversary as our political leader, we pray God to continue to give you the enablement and strength to continue to steer the ship of the party and also asked for God's divine mercy and protection on you as you keep on sailing the party to an enviable heights where we all will continue to benefit from the fruits of our labour.

"Again on behalf of my family, the good people of Ethiope East, together with other sister local government areas, join hands with other thousands of well wishers celebrate with our mentor, leader of leaders, Chief James Onanefe lbori @ 63 and wish him more prosperous years ahead."

Retired police officers protest over unpaid pensions

Some retired police officers under the contributory pension scheme on Tuesday, May 21, protested at the National Assembly over alleged several months of unpaid pensions with a call on President Bola Tinubu to remove them from the scheme. The protesters decried the extreme challenges they endure, saying that the National Pension Commission (PENCOM) has failed to pay their entitlements for several months causing them and their families untold hardship. The aggrieved retired police officers also wrote a Save Our Soul (SOS) letter to the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, calling for an urgent intervention. Speaking on behalf of the protesters, Chairman of the retirees, Christopher Effiong said many of their members have developed terminal illnesses and heart attacks as a result of the frustration associated with the scheme.
