The early consultations of Olorogun (Barr.) Kenneth O. Gbagi to the Delta North Senatorial District on his bid to become Governor of Delta State, come 2023 was greeted with joy and excitement as the former Minister of Education, State consulted Sen. Patrick Osakwe, HRM, Obi Emmanuel O. Efeizomor II, Obi of Owa Kingdom, Chairman, Delta State Council of Traditional Rulers, Elder John Nwajemije, Member, Delta State Advisory and Peace Building Council and His Excellency, Chief Benjamin Elue, former Deputy Governor of Delta State.



At Asaba, Sen. Osakwe, the political gateway of Ndokwa Nation, who could not hide his joy upon seeing the composition of Gbagi Solidarity Movement led by Olorogun Gbagi to avail him of his readiness to run for the 2023 governorship election of the state, said Gbagi moved the right step by consulting early, and such, "you are selling a good market, if you have a bad market  it will be difficult to sell or market but you have a very marketable commodity". Sen. Osakwe also commended Gbagi for identifying with Sen. Okowa and with the PDP as a party, asserting "Gbagi is a true party man and he has come to his home"


At Ika Nation, the consultative train belted at the Palace of Obi of Owa Kingdom, Owa Oyibu in Ika North East Local Government Area where HRM, Obi Emmanuel Efeizomor II and his palace chiefs commended Olorogun Gbagi for starting his consultations so early and prayed for him to succeed in his quest of becoming the Governor of the state, come 2023. While the train moved on to Agbor in Ika South Local Government Area where Elder John Nwagimejen assured Olorogun Gbagi of his support and urged him to support Governor Okowa to finish even stronger by 2023.

While at  Obior in Aniocha North Local Government Area, Chief Elue who said, " As a disciplined people, the we will toll the line of equity and justice by upholding the principal of governorship rotation among the three Senatorial Districts in the state". He said Gbagi is capable and has the capacity to rule the state as Governor and urged him to use the platform of his ambition to keep PDP one.



Speaking at separate interval, Olorogun Gbagi posited that his friend, brother and leader of PDP in the state, Sen. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, Governor of Delta State has done so much and Deltans should not allow the state to fall into the hand of a joker,  come 2023. The former Minister of Education, State said he was in Delta North to plead with the leaders of PDP to consider him to be the Governor of the state as Sen. Okowa is exiting the seat by 2023. Gbagi who said that he was one of the founding members of PDP in the state, said "I am the oldest living member of PDP that want to be Governor in Delta State".

Retired police officers protest over unpaid pensions

Some retired police officers under the contributory pension scheme on Tuesday, May 21, protested at the National Assembly over alleged several months of unpaid pensions with a call on President Bola Tinubu to remove them from the scheme. The protesters decried the extreme challenges they endure, saying that the National Pension Commission (PENCOM) has failed to pay their entitlements for several months causing them and their families untold hardship.
