Ikpeazu while speaking with Daily Sun noted that the Southeast has not produced Nigeria’s president, hence the need for the party to zone its ticket to the region.
The PDP chieftain further stated that zoning its presidential ticket to the region will be in the spirit of fairness and justice.
Ikpeazu stated this following the decision of PDP to zone its Chairmanship to the North.
PDP had decided at its National Executive Council meeting (NEC) in Abuja.
Ikpeazu said, “Our zoning options have been spelt out by the PDP and it says that the chairmanship of the party should go to the North in 2023.
“As an individual, I feel that the weight of equity and justice favours the president from the South and when we come to the South, we find out which zone has not yet produced the president and give the ticket to that zone.”
Meanwhile, the former Chief Whip of the Senate, Roland Owie, has called on the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party to zone it's Presidential tickets to the north ahead of the 2023 general election.
Owie while addressing newsmen in Benin, Edo State, noted that the South has ruled Nigeria for 14 years under PDP, while the north has ruled for two years.
