Delta State leading 2023 Governorship aspirant, Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi has called on ‎Nigerians to continue living together in peace with one another irrespective of their religious, ethnic regional affiliations.‎

Gbagi made the call on Saturday during a traditional ceremony organised to honor him immediately he was conferred with the Chieftaincy title, the Aare-Atunluse of Akure, Ondo State by the Deji of Akure Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Dr. Ademola Aladetoyinbo.

the occasion attracted traditional Rulers from all the geopolitical zones of Nigeria including Hausa, Igbo, Urhobo's from Delta State and top Government functionaries to celebrate the former Minister of state for Education, a criminologist cum security expert.




Gbagi, an Entrepreneur, lawyer and philanthropist, hails from Oginibo, Ughelli South local government area of Delta State, according to the Chairman of Ondo traditional council of Obas, Dr. Ademola Aladetoyinbo, "Gbagi merited the title following his positive contribution to national Development in various front and most especially as a detribalised Nigerian".

Speaking with newsmen at the palace of the Deji of Akure, the newly installed high ranking Chief, the Aare-Atunluse of Akure, Kenneth Gbagi said “I have started a new kingdom and a new peace, the King is a gentle man and he is in the forefront on how to build Nigeria for all to live as one, his place today is made up of Hausa, Yoruba and Igbo's and Urhobo man, that to me is rich"

Gbagi also commended the Yoruba Monarchs and the council of Chiefs for creating an enabling environment for national unity as evident in the accommodation of Hausa Yoruba Igbo's and other ethnic nationals in his Kingdom.

The conferment of the Aare-Atunluse of Akure on Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi happened on the historic day of Ulefunta festival, the traditional annual leave period of the monarch which has been in observance from ancient time.

FocalPoint Reports reliably gathered that the Ulefunta festival is the period when the Deji goes into a seven-day traditional seclusion and when in all Akure Kingdom, there is no celebration or beating of drums of any kind.

it was further gathered that when the Deji comes out from seclusion after seven days, there is then a celebration and Gbagi was installed as one of their traditional Chiefs on the 9th of October 2021.

Retired police officers protest over unpaid pensions

Some retired police officers under the contributory pension scheme on Tuesday, May 21, protested at the National Assembly over alleged several months of unpaid pensions with a call on President Bola Tinubu to remove them from the scheme.
