Press Week: Gov. Okowa's Aide Urges Journalist to Uphold Ethics of the Profession
The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on security, Delta State, Comrade Daniel Ezekiel, yesterday, urged media practitioners to uphold the ethnics of the profession at all times.
In a press statement made available to FocalPoint Reports in Warri, the SSA urged Journalist in Delta State to ensure that fairness and objectivity to remain their guarding principle noting that the media is the fourth estate of the realm and Savior of the society.
Speaking further on the critical role of the media, he said, "The media have the history of being at the forefront of bodies who fought for the democracy we all enjoys today, with the likes of Dele Giwa and several others paying the supreme price. Not forgetting media houses like punch, Guardian vanguard newspapers shut down in that epic battle by successive military junta".
"In all these tribulation and trial , media remained unwaved, which eventual brought victory song. This spirit is what l urge media to keep alive and never allow objectivity to depart from their horizon".
