The former Governor of Kwara State, Abdulfatai Ahmed has denied the report that he has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party.
reports that news emerged on Tuesday stating that the former governor joined some prominent Nigerians to create the Rescue Nigeria Project, reportedly a political party.
But in a post on his Facebook page, Ahmed stated that he had not dumped the PDP.
He, however, admitted that he belongs to political platforms such as the Abuja Round Table Group and the RNP.
The former PDP Governor who vacated office in 2019, was last week named a member of the PDP’s National Convention Organising Committee.
Recall that prominent Nigerians had announced the formation of the RNP to give Nigerians alternative platform to the All Progressives Congress, APC and the PDP.
Founders of RNP include former governor of Kwara state, Ahmed Abdulfatai, Prof. Pat Utomi, Prof. Tunde Adeniran, former Governor of Cross River state, Donald Duke,
Senator Lee Maeba, Usman Bugaje, Prof. Attahiru Jega, Amb. Nkoyo Toyo, Yomi Awoniyi, Dr. Rose Idi Danladi, Dr. Sadiq Gombe among others.
Speaking at the unveiling, former Kwara Governor, Abdulfatai lamented the state of the nation.
He stated that the high level of nepotism and lack of inclusiveness have given rise to agitations by different ethnic groups.
The former governor recalled that in 2015, Nigerians embraced change, adding that today, “that change appears to be what we didn’t expect, as insecurity has taken over the nation.”
