Urhobo Group Tells FIDA To Apologise to Kenneth Gbagi Over Smearing Campaign

Warns FIDA Against being use as Political Tool, Fingers Ministry of Justice in Delta

A political pressure group, Urhobo Progressive Agenda, (UPA), has called on the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) to make a public apology to Chief Kenneth Gbagi, a frontline governorship aspirant under the platform of the People Democratic Party (PDP), over what it described as a smear campaign.

Speaking in Asaba on Tuesday, May 4th 2021, the leaders of the group, Comrade Onoriode Felix and Lucky Imonedafe said, FIDA in Delta state should not become a political tool for dishonorable use.

Expressing disappointment, Comrade Felix noted that FIDA took upon themselves a matter that was in court and acted personal as if they have personal grievances with Gbagi

Comrade Felix said that FIDA should not have allowed themselves to be used as tools to incite public disaffection and distrust against the judiciary on the account of Kenneth Gbagi.

He also said that it was wrong for such legal professional body to pre-adjudicate on a matter that is in court, adding that such conduct was sanctionable.

"Though FIDA claimed that they have not been sponsored to engage in any smear campaign against anyone, nor paid to carry out any dishonourable act", the question is that what happened to the staff at the ministry of Justice on that faithful day that Stella Maris and her cohorts embarked on that walk, campaign and protest?

"Is it a normal practice for lawyers, FIDA and some persons within the corridors of the Delta state ministry of Justice to cast aspersions on the judiciary, claiming that court cases are being politicized?

"To avoid unfavorable path with the judiciary and Kenneth Gbagi, FIDA should apologize to Kenneth Gbagi on national television for smearing his name and reputation.

"Those questions yet to be answered by FIDA are; those women, lawyers who were sponsored in that protest are staff under whose payroll, ministry and state government?

"Gbagi on the 12th of April 2021 visited the Delta state commissioner of police, CP Ari Muhammed Ali, the next day FIDA hurriedly mobilized its people in pretence of familiarization visit to the CP just to render the political services that their organization has been dragged into.

Delta State CP Ali Ari Muhammend

"The whole stage play of FIDA has made the public to know the alleged striping of workers naked could be the political blackmail services being render to someone who nurses governorship interest possibly from Delta state ministry of Justice", Felix added.
