Ijaw Leader Challenge Sales Of Land Behind Warri Main Market

Blame Omare, Ogbe-Ijoh Monarch, Warn Buyers, Sellers To Steer Clear

The leader of Meinbutus Ijaws, King Jerry Prebor has challenged the alleged sale of Land and Warehouse at Warri Main Market Waterside, in Warri south local government area, Delta State.

King Prebor on Thursday, 6th May 2021, disclosed that Barr. Eric Omare, connived with Olabrakonpere community Chairman to facilitate the sales of 'Olabrakonpere' community land behind Warri main market.

Our crew visited the area and reports that there was serious demolition as small scale traders and residents were already relocated.

Prebor said Olabrakonpere  community is for Ijaws in Warri south and the community is not for sale.

Jerry Prebor expressed disappointment that a land he has protected for many years till the formation of Olabrakonpere community in Warri was sold without his involvement as the Amayanabor of Meinbutus.

He has alleged that Eric Omare and the Ogbe-Ijoh Monarch bypassed him and mediated the sales.

He lamented that Omare undermined his position and bypassed him against all reasoning.

He further reiterated that the dominance of the Ogbe-Ijoh Monarch and Eric Omare, end in Warri South-West local government area.

A source who gave his name as Bozomo Sunday noted that Eric Omare moved a buyer to purchase the only land occupied by the Ijaws in Warri South.

King Jerry Prebor however, waned sellers and buyers to stay away from the said parcel of land, adding that one Christian Asaba 18 years old died on the 11th April 2021, Sunday night due to demolition of the warehouse and surrounding buildings, he was willing to challenge all forms of misdeeds surrounding the selling of the land.

Our reporter had gathered that the land was sold to Mr. Mike Yoroko, a business man who is based in Lagos state.

In a swift reaction, Eric Omare has refuted the allegation made by King prebor and others, Omare said convincingly that he did not receive money as mediator.

He also added that he didn't act as a mediator, saying that he only encouraged an Ijaw man who want to invest in the area and create jobs for the youths by carrying the community along in the arrangements.
