PTI Matriculates Students For 2020/2021 Academic Session
 




The Petroleum Training lnstitute , PTI Effurun Delta State today at the Conference Centre of the institute  organized a combined  Matriculation ceremony for Full -Time and  Part-Time students  for National Diploma  ND  and Higher  National Diploma HND in the School of Industrial Continuing Education  for the 2020/ 2021 Academic  Session. 
The event which was conducted in full compliance to COVID- 19 guidelines and protocols had the Registrar  in attendance in the person of   Mr O C Siakpere , Dr BS Oyetunde, Director Research and Development, Mr. RT Obashe, Director Library and lnformation Technology, Dr.  M A Adegbite , Director, Engineering ,Members of Academic Board  Management, Heads of Department and other dignitaries.
 Dr Henry A. Adimula the Principal and Chief Executive of PTI in his keynote and goodwill  address  disclosed that a total number of  2831 candidates applied for admission but  only 
  one thousand nine hundred and one students  (1901)who scaled the admission process/ requirements as stipulated by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and other  basic prerequisites of PTI Post - UTME  were  admitted to part take in the Matriculation ceremony.

Dr Henry Adimula ,the PTI Chief Executive on behalf of Academic Board , Management and Staff of the Petroleum Training lnstitute  ,  congratulated and welcomed the successful  matriculants to the foremost  lnstitute of Oil and Gas in Africa.
Dr Henry Adimula the PTI Boss  explained that after the Matriculation ceremony the students will no longer be like the proverbial hen " who on entering the village square ,stands with one leg instead they can henceforth stand with two legs " as they are now bonafide students of the lnstitute with all the inherent rights and privileges that comes with it.
Dr Henry Adimula while emphaphasing the Uniqueness of  the lnstitute in his speech said: " The  Petroleum Training lnstitute is not a University,it is not a regular Polythecnic, rather  PTI  is a specialized lnstitute for the training of manpower for the oil,gas and allied industries."
Speaking further , Dr Adimula affirmed that  the   Matriculants  and indeed all PTI students have advantage over their peers  in other Educational  institutions of learning  in Nigeria because the PTI students have the latest Technology domiciled in the laboratories and workshops that is only on the wish list of many  institutions.
He advised the Matriculants  saying :   "  "Since you have all factors in your favour, the  focus of your studentship should be Academic Excellence, lnnovation, Resourcefulness and Character Development . "
Continuing he charged them thus :  "You are to prepare yourself to be part of the leadership  in Nigeria not just in the future but now , because the future starts now, he added.
Dr Henry Adimula who also spoke about the vision of the institute said :  " Our vision is to develop investors , technologists, technicians and personnels amongst  this crop of Matriculants to fill gaps in the industry in the areas of development, cloning of technology, Manufacture of Solar devices , motorized electric powered devices eccetera."
 Dr Adimula ,While making a clarification on the impact of globalization and the need for PTI to be in the front burner in the scheme of things said : " PTl does not exist in isolation anymore , for us building partnership and knowledge sharing is now the inthing in the oil and gas industry.ln line with the realities of globalization, PTI is partnering with several organizations including the Oil Producers Trade Section OPTS to share ideas and to provide platforms for both staff and students to get better exposure to the latest Technology in the oil and gas industry."
The PTI Chief Executive disclosed with an air of satisfaction that the Diving Centre of Excellence,(DCoE) of the lnstitute is currently being developed with both Nigerian and International collaboration  in order to make PTI the Centre of diving training in the sub Sahara region and beyond.
Some of the students Who spoke to Daily Independent Newspaper namely, Raphael Favour, lndustrial  Safety and Environmental Technology, Stephen Erhinyodavwe, Enakarhire Fabian , both Petroleum Engineering andFaith Ajiri Ichene of Mechanical Engineering 
 concurred that their successful Matriculation is a fantastic experience and a dream come true.
They promised in their seperate remarks that they will make good use of the opportunity provided by PTI for them to pursue Excellence in their chosen field of study.
