Gbagi's Petition: Tribunal May Nullify Delta State 2023 Governorship Election
Information reaching this medium has revealed that the Election Petitions Tribunal may nullify the 18th March 2023 governorship election in Delta State.
This is coming after the Delta State Governorship Candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi filed a petition over irregularities, malpractices, and electoral fraud that characterized the election.
Though the election had produced the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate, Sheriff Francis Oborevwori as the winner, however, Chief Kenneth Gbagi urged the tribunal to withdraw the Certificate of Return issued to Sheriff Oborevwori by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and issue a fresh one to him as the duly qualified and elected governor of Delta State.
Feeders received from the inspection of electoral materials and BVAS confirmed Gbagi's position stressing that the election was not conducted by the 2022 electoral act. A source also alleged that Irregularities and overvoting were discovered in some Local Government areas across the state.
Although no official statements have been issued to that effect.
