2023: Deltans Behind Gbagi on Substantive Argument at Tribunal.. TEMIENOR

2023: Deltans Behind Gbagi on Substantive Argument at Tribunal.. TEMIENOR

National Coordinator, Social Movement for Good Governance (SMGG) Prince Temienor Oghenekevwe on Thursday, April 27th, 2023, disclosed that Deltans are solidly behind Chief Kenneth Gbagi of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

Temienor Oghenekevwe who was a candidate of the SDP, the Delta State House of Assembly, Ughelli South Constituency made this known in a statement released to newsmen in Ughelli South Local Government Area, Delta State.

Temienor Oghenekevwe also known as Ovie-Ame urged those who are designated to adjudicate at the Delta State election petition Tribunal should ensure substantive justice when handling post-election matters brought before it.

He encouraged members of the tribunal to do the right thing by ensuring that they save the country's democracy through substantive arguments when handling March 18th gubernatorial election matters in Delta State.

Temienor warned that It is dangerous for democracy if technicality often trumps substantive justice and is used as a tool for subverting the will of the people as many lawyers would try to win through procedural arguments or technicalities.

He further added that judicial decisions should not be based on favoritism for the highest bidder,  winning through substantive argument creates a permissive environment for legitimate leadership.

He encouraged the judiciary to show capacity that is based on independence, impartiality, and courage to safeguard the State's democracy through credible decisions.

According to him, "Delta State needs fearless and incorruptible tribunal that can act as a countervailing force against electoral fraud and corrupt politicians".

Olu Of Warri Defends Tradition, Speaks on Christianity  The Olu of Warri, His Majesty Ã’gíamẹ̀ Atúwàtse III, has dispelled the insinuation that there is a conflict between the traditional thrones and Christendom. The monarch, who stated this when he received the Soun of Ogbomoso land, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, Orumogege III, in his Palace in Warri Kingdom, Delta State, said that the two institutions were not necessarily antithetical. He also debunked the assumption that traditional institutions were synonymous with fetishism and the worship of creations made by human beings and reasoning. The Olu, who said he was elated by the Soun’s visit, said the new Ogbomoso monarch’s choice of Warri kingdom as his first place of visit was divinely directed, just as his choice for the throne was divinely ordained.
