2023: Gbagi Emerging Stronger Despite Subterfuge in Delta Politics

2023: Gbagi Emerging Stronger Despite Subterfuge in Delta Politics

Intrigues and subterfuge are said to be integral parts of politics mostly in developing countries like Nigeria .

However, one cannot feign ignorance of the deceptions, lies, and subterfuge used as instrument of politics that depicted pre-election activities of the Delta State 2023 election.

The situations were so pitiable that
political gladiators who are now elder statesmen had their personal agenda and interest running against the interest and well-being of Deltans.

For them, hanging on to the corridors of power meant everything for them to survive and remain relevant in the political corridor to the detriment of others.

This time, is not about interest alone but a drastic and decisive move to take back Delta state from power scavengers, and political merchants like the stooge planters and unqualified individuals who purchased backdoor qualifications.

Delta State must be governed by someone whose proposal for the state is hinged on various human and infrastructural programs you are willing to give them, manifesto and your antecedents while not throwing character away.

One to be mention is the former Minister of State for Education, and  Delta State governorship candidate of Social Democratic Party, SDP, Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi OON.

Olorogun Gbagi's political venture became conspicuous in 1998 and 1999 alongside the former governor of the State, Chief James Ibori and Professor Sam Oyovbaire, who  chested out and ran the Governorship primaries where Ibori emerged as governorship candidate of PDP.

Olorogun Gbagi remained with the party through thick and thin and weathered every storm until he became an aspirant with the party he jointly built. The Politics of God-fatherism, deception and distrust in PDP made Gbagi to leave the party with tears. However, it is on record that he left PDP as an aspirant, beating Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to his game and emerged as candidate of the SDP.

That sole decision to ditch the PDP was Gbagi's most significant step forward and advancement of his political career.

In all, Gbagi always make reference to the former Federal Minister of Information, Chief E.K Clark as his political father, mentor, and guardian who has always blessed his aspirations.

Gbagi as a Governorship candidate of SDP visited Chief Clark at his Asokoro home in Abuja, on 12 June, 2022 and got the blessings of the elder statesman to join the race to become the governor of Delta State.

Though the elections have come and gone, it was not the end for Gbagj who has left no one in doubt as to his readiness to become the next Executive Governor of Delta State.

He has approached the tribunal and demanded to be declared as the only qualified candidate for the election, nullify the certificate of return issued by the Independent Electorial Commission (INEC) to the Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly and anointed candidate of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and order INEC to issue a fresh certificate of return to him (Gbagi).
