Deplorable Road: Anguish as Sapele Benin/ Highway Fails Again

Motorists and travellers plying the Sapele-Benin federal highway have cried out over deplorable state of the road.

This happened on Saturday in Amukpe/ Sapele as heavy-duty trucks got stock to the failed portion of the

Sapele Benin expresses way, Ethiope West Local Government, Delta State.

FocalPoint Reports that road users and travellers spent over three hours on a spot.

At the time of filing this report, over a hundred vehicles were stranded.

Majority of the vehicles are fuels tankers, trucks and commercial vehicles transporting passengers to Port-Harcourt, Bayelsa, Owerri, Onitsha and Enugu and another part of The country.

motorists, who were mostly commercial drivers. noted that they were losing a lot because of the road, which has become almost impassable.

Some residents in the area attributed the poor state of roads to the Federal Government’s delay in maintaining them.

Some retired police officers under the contributory pension scheme on Tuesday, May 21, protested at the National Assembly over alleged several months of unpaid pensions with a call on President Bola Tinubu to remove them from the scheme.
