Ohanaeze, ADF react to APC’s claim of restructuring Nigeria

Ohanaeze Ndigbo and another Igbo elite group led by Prof. Uzodinma Nwala, Alaigbo Development Foundation, ADF, have dismissed the claim by the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, that President Muhammadu Buhari has commenced restructuring with financial autonomy to Local Governments and the implementation of the N30, 000 minimum wage, saying that restructuring is far more than that.

According to Ohanaeze Ndigbo, it is either the APC are naive and don’t know the basic principles of restructuring or is being out rightly mischievous and deliberately insulting the proponents of restructuring.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo made it clear to the ruling party that is restructuring an idea whose time has come and that there is no stopping it.

ADF, on its own reminded APC that restructuring is more fundamental than that, saying ADF believes in the reconstitution of the federation in such a way that there would be Regional autonomy.

The President General of Ohanaeze Ndigb, Chief Nnia Nwodo who spoke through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Chief Emeka Attamah said that granting the local governments financial autonomy does not translate to states or geopolitical zones being in control of their natural resources.

“It is either the people saying that are naive and don’t know the basic principles of restructuring or being out rightly mischievous in which case they are  being deliberately insulting to the proponents of restructuring. Such people don’t wish the country well.

“Granting the local governments financial autonomy does not translate to states or geopolitical zones being in control of their natural resources; it does not translate to devolution of powers to the geopolitical units in the country; it also doesn’t translate to people having equal access to employment and justice.

“What such people don’t know is that for an idea whose time has come, there is no stopping it. No one part of the country can hold others on perpetual bondage. Something must give, and sooner than some people expect it”, the apex Igbo body said.

Speaking through its spokesman, Hon. Abi Onyike, ADF said that “restructuring Nigeria is more fundamental than that. We in ADF believe in the reconstitution of the federation in such a way that there would be Regional autonomy.

“The federating units or Ethnic Nationalities making up Nigeria should be autonomous and have capacity to assert their rights to self–determination.

“Granting of autonomy to Local Governments is not the duty of the Federal Government. Moreover, the Federal Government has no power to create local Governments in a true federation. Every region or federating unit should determine their local government system.

“Even the so-called autonomy granted to Local Governments is merely on paper. The Emperor Governors have sabotaged the effort. They still plunder the Councils’ resources with impunity”, ADF stated.

Olu Of Warri Defends Tradition, Speaks on Christianity

Olu Of Warri Defends Tradition, Speaks on Christianity  The Olu of Warri, His Majesty Ă’gĂamáşą̀ AtĂşwĂ tse III, has dispelled the insinuation that there is a conflict between the traditional thrones and Christendom. The monarch, who stated this when he received the Soun of Ogbomoso land, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, Orumogege III, in his Palace in Warri Kingdom, Delta State, said that the two institutions were not necessarily antithetical. He also debunked the assumption that traditional institutions were synonymous with fetishism and the worship of creations made by human beings and reasoning. He, however, noted that the two institutions can play complementary role that will contribute to the growth and development of the country. The Olu, who said he was elated by the Soun’s visit, said the new Ogbomoso monarch’s choice of Warri kingdom as his first place of visit was divinely directed, just as his choice for the throne was divinely ordained. He said that they owe i

Many Benefited as Tantita Save Niger Delta From Enviromental Ruins  It is on record over the past twenty years in the Niger Delta region, South-South Nigeria where incessant fire disaster and untimely death was on the increase in weekly basis as result of the activities of illegal oil bunkering, especially the process of local refining popularly known as Kpo-Fire. The menace also renders our young married ladies widows in the ljaw riverine communities because most of their life partners venture into the Kpo-Fire business due to its lucrative nature in making quick money. To proof your doubt, take a tour to any of the ljaw riverine communities across Burutu, Warri South-West, Bomadi, Patani in Delta State, and Southern ljaw, Ekeremor, Nembe and Brass LGAs in Bayelsa State, you will discovered that most of our youths are facially disfigured in parts of their body as result of severe fire accident incurred during cooking and burning (refining) of crude oil to kerosene, fuel and desiel for
