National Award 2022: Why Delta SDP Gov Candidate, Gbagi Was Honoured

 _ll...By Ezekiel Kagbala_

The blaze that trails outstanding virtue can rarely be underestimated because it tends to set out a significant  distinctive principles that most often define as well as categories the status quo of individuals in any given society.

Shooting the shot of the likes of Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi FNIM, OON as a statesman of uncommon pedigree, should in this content be seen as a prologue to more fascinating insight into his numerous awards and this is not unconnected with his recent prestigious national award which  has sent so much thrills and cheers to all the lovers of good governance across Nigeria and Delta State in particular. The Governorship Candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP national award was timely and  appropriate and well deserving to his personality.

From the creation of Delta State, Gbagi has enjoyed rich pedigree and a great reservoir of democratic experience.  His shot into political, industrial, entrepreneurship, prominence and national limelight, predates the migration of the defunct Bendel State to the current Delta State.

He moved against all clandestine predictions and permutations orchestrated to discredit him. He defeated the governor of Delta State, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa's political unfaithfulness to emerge as the state’s Governorship candidate of the SDP.

The people of URHOBO nation, and their political powerhouse, Delta central have gotten an abundant reason to project only Gbagi as a progressive-minded leader who is not holding any political office or position of using public funds to purchases power, like candidates of the two others who are products of 'taxpayers money'.

Gbagi's candidacy is christened as LIBERATION mandate, the SDP held sway in Delta state under the charismatic and service-driven leader, Dr. Oke Idawene who is getting Deltans rooted for Gbagi, a dogged political fighter towards complete LIBERATION of Delta State.

A few days ago, President Muhammadu Buhari honored deserving Nationals, and Non-Nationals with national awards. Few Nigerians, the likes of Gbagi who have distinguished themselves in the service of the nation and humanity were tightly considered based on their qualifications.

Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi's qualifications for such awards were merited to him as the only Governorship candidate whose national impact resonates from his private life of success to current political recognition.

Though Ovie Omo-Agege, a Governorship Candidate of a party, was recognized as the Deputy Senate President. It was based on his current position, not as a private contributor to nation-building.

It is verifiable and conspicuous that Gbagi is not a beneficiary of 'taxpayers money'; unlike some with questionable characters whom the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC have sealed their properties, alongside their dubious certificates.

It was not surprising that Chief Kenneth Gbagi's award attracted widespread approval even from Governor Okowa's led Delta State Government where he worked against the emergence of his supposed adopted brother and settled for the most questionable roadside character.

Moving towards the 2023 election, Gbagi having paid his dues in politics and private ventures has left no one in doubt as to his readiness to LIBRATE DELTA STATE if elected as the next Executive Governor of the oil-rich Delta State.

Unlike those who depends on government or 'taxpayers money', it is verifiable that Gbagi Is a real estate and security mogul. Undoubtedly, one of the richest lawyers Nigeria has produced. Through him, the entire URHOBO nation and Delta Central could retain their place of pride.

Across the three Senatorial Districts and ethnic divides in Delta State, Olorogun Gbagi has been able to arrest the consciousness of the people because they desire massive development that the business mogul is willing to offer. a former senator confirmed these  facts before he died.

According to the Three-term Senator, Late Patrick Osakwe, before his demise, he said; "Gbagi has paid his dues, it is left for Deltans to pay him. Osakwe, also wished before his death that PDP should give Gbagi its 2023 presidential ticket, adding that he is a presidential material. However, PDP under Okowa moved against the elders including his father.

Recall that Governor Okowa's father, Late, Chief Arthur Okorie Uzoma Okowa once said to Gbagi; “We have a lot of friends, I want you to meet with Odidigborigbo, Chief James Ibori,  he is close to us and I want you to align with him. You, Ibori, and Ifeanyi (referring to his son, Governor Okowa) should meet and sort things out.

“When fighting for your brother, you do not look behind, we will not look behind in the fight for you. I am asking God to clear the way for you. Since you have trusted in God, the God that moves with me will move with you.”

“Hold on to whatever you know is good, do not allow sycophants to draw you behind, listen to the voice of God and let prayer warriors surround you. Prayers are what saved Ifeanyi and you need prayers.
