FLOOD: PDP Chieftain warns against misappropriation of Relief Funds, Materials to cronies

Following the relief funds and materials coming to flood victims in various communities of Delta State, a Chieftain of the Peoples'Democratic Party PDP, Hon. Aseheta Oyabebefa has warned against sharing relief funds to wrong hands, saying that the funds are met for the Flood Victims and not to score political points. 

Hon. Oyabebefa who was reacting over a flood relief funds giving to Ogbolubiri ward in Burutu Constituency by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa last year, but was unduly appropriated by the lawmaker representing their constituency his cronies, further warned those using monies met to develop and empower the people to enrich themselves to desist from it or further be exposed. 


He said; "Our experience during last year flood where Governor Okowa gave one million to each local government area in Delta state with the support of the council chairman Godsknows Angele for every ward to have N500,000. But to our greatest surprise, Hon Asupa and his boys in Ogbolubiri ward shared the said money among themselves instead of the victims affected by flood". 

He said; "As I am talking to you now, my entire community has again been submerged by the ravaging flood, all are homeless; no means of livelihood and some selected few will continue to share money made for the flood Victims to themselves. This is not right. Those perpetrating this act should stop or they will be further exposed. They should stop misappropriating the funds to their cronies instead of it been to be giving to the right persons. We will not sit and watch things done the wrong way in the name of politics or scoring political points."


The PDP Chieftain who lamented the suffering of his people, said his entire Ogbeingbene community have again been submerged by the flood, noting that whereas the relief funds which are met to be shared to the victims are been shared among selected persons In the community against the original purpose stop forthwith. 

He however called on the state, federal Government and other relevant agencies to speed-up emergency operations and bring relief materials to the affected communities not cared for, noting that hundreds of Communities in Delta state are currently flooded with thousands of families  displaced including goods, properties and farm produce worth several millions of naira destroyed.

Retired police officers protest over unpaid pensions

Some retired police officers under the contributory pension scheme on Tuesday, May 21, protested at the National Assembly over alleged several months of unpaid pensions with a call on President Bola Tinubu to remove them from the scheme.
