Edevbie Movement Calls for Calm, Hopeful of Victory at Supreme Court
Convener of the David Edevbie Movement’23 and the Media/Publicity Secretary of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Delta state, Comr. Tomi Akporoghene Wojuola has appealed for calm among supporters of Olorogun David Edevbie stating that “definitely, the Supreme Court of final jurisdiction would rule in favor of the David Edevbie, as the ruling of the appeal court is just a temporary distraction”.
While responding to newsmen in Asaba Comr. Wojuola stated that as was also the case of Degi Eremiayo by which the APC lost its governorship position to the PDP in Bayelsa State, the Appeal Court also ruled in favor of the APC, but their appeal was later upturned by the Supreme Court.
He noted that the Supreme Court had timelessly reiterated the fact that the era of justice based on technicalities was over, and now is the time for substantial judgements.
While quoting Section 29(5) of the new electoral Act, he stated “that any aspirant who participated in the primaries of his political party who has reasonable grounds to believe that any information given by his political party’s candidate in the affidavit or any document submitted by that candidate in relation to his constitutional requirements to contest the election is false, may file a suit at the Federal High Court against that candidate seeking a declaration that the information contained in the affidavit was false”, adding “that unlike a criminal case which requires a writ of summons, the electoral law, explicitly demands an originating summons to commence filing processes for all pre-electoral matters.”
He further called on all supporters of Olorogun David Edevbie to be calm and hopeful as the Supreme Court would have the final say in favor of Olorogun David Edevbie.
