2023: I Am Back In PDP To Return It To Its Winning Ways In Udu - Poge


Chief Kenneth Poge, son of the former President General of Union of Udu Communities, Late Double Chief David Allan Poge Otirikpe, has played host to leaders, elders and ward executives of the Peoples Democratic Party in his ward and the local government area, just he said that was back in the party to return it to it's winning ways.

Speaking during the ceremony at his Country home, along Orhuwhorun road, Owhase town, Udu Local Government Area of Delta State, Chief Kenneth Poge, said the hosting was to officially inform the members of the party in Ward 6 and Udu that he has returned from oversea to join in their drive for the development of the party and Udu through good governance.

Chief Poge charged party members in the ward to see him as one of their own, remain united and create an atmosphere of inclusiveness and togetherness, ensuring that the party effectively plays its role in the development and growth of the local government, state and country.

Describing Udu Ward 6 as the thermometer and core of Udu politics, Chief Poge said, “PDP has a strong political base in Ward 6; we should show the local government area and state our political relevance as we direct the path".

In response, Olorogun Henry Afure Sakpra, the Delta State Commissioner for Special Duties, said the ceremony was historic because one of their own who left for abroad years ago has returned to make work easier for them in the party.

According to him, "the death of his father, Chief Poge Otirikpe created vacuum that needed to be filled. Now that you have returned and decided to join us in returning the party to winning ways, we are happy.

"There is no doubt that your return from oversea will help the party perform better in the forthcoming general elections", he added.

Chief Eddie Ono-Sorhue, Chairman of Elders and Leaders Council in Udu and member, Delta State Advisory Council; Olorogun Moses Odibo, former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Olorogun Saturday Mofoye, PDP Vice Chairman in the LGA and SSA to the Governor on Political Matters; Chief Johnbul Asu, SA to the Governor; Patrick Willie Esq., Comrade Solomon Omenta, PDP Chairman, Ward 6 and other leaders who spoke in same vein commended Chief Kenneth Poge for playing host to elders, leaders and party members.

They urged party members present to be campaign vigorously from unit to unit to ensure total victory for the party come 2023.

Retired police officers protest over unpaid pensions

Some retired police officers under the contributory pension scheme on Tuesday, May 21, protested at the National Assembly over alleged several months of unpaid pensions with a call on President Bola Tinubu to remove them from the scheme. The protesters decried the extreme challenges they endure, saying that the National Pension Commission (PENCOM) has failed to pay their entitlements for several months causing them and their families untold hardship.
