Buhari celebrates former Nasarawa Gov Adamu at 75

President Muhammadu Buhari, on Thursday, joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in celebrating former Nasarawa Governor Senator Abdullahi Adamu, who clocks 75.

In a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, Buhari acknowledged the contributions of the former governor to nation-building, having served in various capacities and fields.

Praying to God to grant Adamu good health as he continues in his service to his fatherland, the President also observed that the serving Senator’s experience would always be handy in mentoring upcoming leaders

“President Muhammadu Buhari joins members of All Progressives Congress (APC) in congratulating former Governor of Nasarawa State, Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, on his 75th birthday, July 23, 2021.

“The President felicitates with family, friends and associates on the auspicious moment that calls for thanksgiving and celebration.

“President Buhari notes the contributions of the former Governor to nation building, serving variously as a member of Constituent Assembly in 1977, Constitutional National Conference, 1995, Minister of State, Works and Housing, 1995, after working in both private and public sector firms in the construction sector that saw to the erection of many historic places in Nigeria like the Murtala Mohammed Square in Kaduna.

“The President affirms that Sen. Adamu’s roles in shaping the constitution of the country, providing leadership in Nasarawa State and building political institutions remain outstanding, acknowledging that the experience of the APC stalwart will also be relevant in inspiring upcoming leaders.

“President Buhari prays for the wellbeing of the former governor as he continues to serve the nation,” the statement reads.

Retired police officers protest over unpaid pensions

Some retired police officers under the contributory pension scheme on Tuesday, May 21, protested at the National Assembly over alleged several months of unpaid pensions with a call on President Bola Tinubu to remove them from the scheme. The protesters decried the extreme challenges they endure, saying that the National Pension Commission (PENCOM) has failed to pay their entitlements for several months causing them and their families untold hardship.
