A Niger Delta human rights activist, Comr. Youkore Mamamu Bene, has demanded direct payment of the 13 percent derivation to oil-producing communities. Not to the state governors.
In a statement to focalPont on monday, March 29 2021 in Ogbe-Ijoh, Warri South West Local Government Area, Delta state, Mamamu alleged that the governors who are the beneficiaries of the 13% are not developing the oil communities.
The quest for development of oil bearing communities has necessitated a strong demand of direct payment of the oil 13 percent to the oil-producing communities.
He also added that the interventionist agencies such as the Delta State Oil Producing area Development Commission, DESOPADEC and NDDC has neglected and the oil communities.
He urged the Niger Delta governors to immediately release all previous 13 percent derivation funds meant to develop oil producing communities.
He further urged president Muhammadu Buhari to as a matter of urgency revert the communities oil monies that has been wrongly paid to the state governmenors back to the rightful people, the oil producing communities.
