DELSU Convocation: Sheriff Mulade Earns PhD, Son Bags MSc

The Founder of the Centre for Peace and Environmental Justice (CEPEJ) and newly elected National Treasurer of the Ijaw National Congress (INC), High Chief Sheriff Mulade, has earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in International Relations from Delta State University, Abraka.

In a remarkable family milestone, his 24-year-old son, David Sheriff Mulade, also bagged a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Mass Communication from the same institution.

Both father and son were honoured at the 18th Convocation Ceremony of Delta State University for the 2024/2025 academic session, held on Saturday, May 2, 2026.

Speaking after the ceremony, David Sheriff Mulade, a practicing journalist with GbaramatuVoice, expressed deep appreciation to his father for his guidance and inspiration.

“I am grateful to my father for his constant support and example. This achievement is a continuation of the foundation he has laid, and it will further strengthen my career in journalism and media practice,” he said.

This twin-achievement has been described as a moment of pride, reflecting a strong commitment to education, leadership, and personal development. It is worthy of note that this significantly unprecedented in the history of Gbaramatu Kingdom and inspiring testament to dedication, excellence and shared passion for education.

Chief Mulade is widely known for his contributions to environmental justice, peace advocacy, and development in the Niger Delta. This academic milestone further underscores his dedication to intellectual growth and service.

Breaking: ASUU suspends 2-week warning strike

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has suspended its two-week warning strike it declared last week across all public universities in the country. The union announced the suspension on Wednesday at a press conference held at its headquarters in Abuja. President of ASUU, Chris Piwuna, who read a prepared speech before newsmen, explained that the development followed intervention by the Senate and some other well-meaning Nigerians. However, he sad the National Executive Council of the Union resolved to give the government a one-month window to address all contending areas.
