President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday urged the Senate to consider and approve N895 billion as a supplementary budget.
Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, read President Buhari’s letter of request during Tuesday plenary.
The Federal Executive Council (FEC) had earlier approved N895 billion.
A substantial part of the amount has been earmarked for the procurement of military hardware to prosecute the war against insurgency and banditry.
The Federal Government is also expected to use part of the amount for the purchase of COVID-19 vaccines and other health-related needs.
Recall that President Buhari had in April submitted a supplementary budget to the National Assembly to request for more funds to tackle insecurity across many parts of the country.
