NDDC Has Been A Cash Cow For Politicians – Wike Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike on Tuesday said the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) is a cash cow for politicians in the country. He stated this during the commissioning of the Police Barracks, Special Protection Unit (SPU) base 6 at Omagwa in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State. “NDDC has been a cash cow for politicians,” he said. “You will see competition who will be the Managing Director, Executive Director (Finance), Executive Director (Projects). “These are people who will make sure money is available for politics. Reps Concerned Over Bills Awaiting Concurrence In Senate The House of Representatives is concerned over the number of bills still awaiting concurrence in the Senate. The Speaker of the House, Femi Gbajabiamila during plenary on Tuesday frowned at the fact that over 100 bills from the House are yet to receive the attention of the Senate. He directed the clerk of the House to communicate the displeasure of the lawmakers to his counterparts in the Senate. Gbajabiamila further ruled that all concurrence bills from the Senate be stepped down until the matter is resolved. Gunmen Kidnap Retired Air Vice Marshal In Lagos   Gunmen have kidnapped an Air Vice Marshal Sikiru Smith (Rtd), in the Ajah area of Lagos State. The retired Air Vice Marshal was said to have been picked up by masked men who shot sporadically and bundled him into a standby boat and sped off from the site where he was supervising work in the area on Monday. Meanwhile, the Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the kidnap of the retired Air Force boss. The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu said that the command is aware of the incident and is working to rescue the victim unhurt and to arrest the perpetrators. Retired Air Vice Marshal Smith is a cousin to the former Inspector-General of Police and Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Musiliu Smith. Many Residents Killed As Air Force Jet Drops Bombs On Borno Village At least 20 persons have been killed as Nigerian Air Force (NAF) fighter jet mistakenly rained bombs on Kwatar Daban Masara village in Borno State. The village is about 50 kilometres from Maiduguri, the Borno state capital. According to AFP, the air force mistakenly killed the victims who are said to be fishermen in an airstrike that occurred on Sunday. It was gathered that information about the tragedy had been slow to circulate due to obsolete communications infrastructure in the area. The attack came barely two weeks after the Nigerian Air Force bombed a community in Yobe, killing at least 12 people and injuring many. NAFDAC Raises Alarm Over ‘Poisonous’ Substance In Palm Oil Production The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has raised alarm over the use of a poisonous substance by producers and dealers of palm oil. According to the agency, sellers of palm oil now use Azo dye, a substance well known as Sudan Dye in order to make the product look reddish and attractive to buyers. NAFDAC Director-General, Prof. Moji Christianah Adeyeye,  made the observation at a sensitization campaign in Anambra State. Adeyeye bemoaned the act, describing it as wicked and inhuman. She noted that the substance is deadly as it causes the gradual deterioration of human health. According to her, the agency discovered the sharp practices where sellers of palm oil now put Azo dye to make it very reddish for it to look very glittery so that unsuspecting consumers can easily buy them.
