Aggressive Revenue Drive in Delta will Increase Poverty, Criminality in Delta State

Aggressive Revenue Drive in Delta will Increase Poverty, Criminality in Delta State  By Ezekiel Kagbala FocalPoint Reports The Delta State government has recently adopted several methodologies in accruing revenue in the state. These revenue accrual policies comes in the form of development levy on citizens.  The aim of these policies is to create a better life for the citizens, however the private sector has been made to face the brunt of the pain in actualizing this dream. This is due to the increase in the already straining expenses being imposed on the private workers. However, with the introduction of these new levies, there will be an increase in the charges placed on house owners and car owners for 'developmental' purposes. It is essential that the aggresive revenue drive in Delta State be reviewed and the methods reevaluated. The consequence of this policy, unchecked, will be an increase in poverty and criminality in the state as landlords, motor...

Kenneth Gbagi is the most kind man I have known in recent years, Amos Nyewven Okpobe writes from Ugheli South L.G.A

Kenneth Gbagi is the most kind man I have known in recent years, Amos Nyewven Okpobe writes from Ugheli South L.G.A By my personal experiences with him, I am convinced that if Olorogun Bar Kenneth Gbagi is given the opportunity to govern Delta State, he will impact the life of Deltans positively. I am not surprised at all about all the fabricated lies against him, worse still by our own UHROBO people, that also fulfill the prophetic word that "A PROPHET IS NOT HONORED BY HIS OWN PEOPLE,". However, the truth is that, Deltans all loved Olorogun Bar Kenneth Gbagi except the JUDAS among the Uhrobos especially the DC23 agenda promoters who never wanted the good of Deltans. Note, that Olorogun Bar Kenneth Gbagi is the only proper UHROBO man to become the governor of Delta State since the beginning of democracy, If God has anointed him there is nothing anybody or group of people can do to stop him. Some few days ago, I was inside a tricycle ( keke) and i  listen to an Ig...

Is Our Culture of Begging Borne of Greed or Poverty?

Is Our Culture of Begging Borne of Greed or Poverty? There’s something common in almost every sector, company, or places in Nigeria: there are people lurking around trying to stylishly beg you for money. If you go to a supermarket, the sales girl showing you around will ask you to “roger her,” the gate man at that restaurant will smile at you and tell you to “drop something na, big man.” The security guard at the bank is hailing you and telling you to “do weekend for us, madam.” It is worse in places like airports, event centres, hotels – places where “big men and women” are envisaged to be.  There’s something worrisome about our begging culture: it is now ingrained so deep that it feels like people can no longer do their jobs unless they are being tipped to do so. More worrisome is that it used to be subtle, but now, it is so blatant. Before, they would whine softly into your ears like mosquitoes. Now, they not only beg with their full chest, some will sabotage your efforts until ...

UK complicit in Kanu’s abduction’ in Kenya – Lawyer The British government has a hand in the alleged ‘abduction’ of leader of The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu in Nairobi, Kenya his lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor has alleged. Mr Ejiofor made the accusation on Wednesday while speaking on Arise TV Morning Show. He also accused the British Government and the British High Commission of not doing much to help Kanu despite being a British citizen. Ejiofor wondered why the Commission has not visited Kanu since he was brought to Nigeria. He noted that unlike Kanu’s 2015 arrest when the Commission was regularly visiting him while in detention, the British Commission is paying lip service to helping him this time around. He said: “I can confirm to you that British high commission is not doing much about this case. I can confirm to you that there is every likely hood of connivance in what happened to my client. “Because some times in 2015 when my client was arrested I know how they were...

The company said this on Tuesday in a slew of announcements about young users. The change means advertisers will soon be able to target under-18s only by age, gender, or location on Facebook, its Messenger service, and its photo-sharing platform Instagram. In a blog post, Instagram said it was making the change because it agreed with youth advocates that young people might not be equipped to make decisions about targeting. Instagram users under 16 years old will also start to be defaulted into having a private account when they join the platform, the company said, in an effort to stop unwanted contact from adults.
