Fuel Price: Marketers Predict Fuel to Sell for N170/litre, NNPC Debunks Prediction Despite NNPC's denial, fuel marketers has predicted the rise in the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, also known as petrol. The pump price of Premium Motor Spirit, popularly called petrol, may rise from the current N162-N165/litre to Na170/litre, while its depot price is projected to increase from N159/litre to N165/litre, oil marketers said on Thursday. Dealers under the aegis of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria and the Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria warned that the rising cost of petrol at depots would definitely warrant commensurate increase in pump price if not checked. IGP Stops Plot to Evict Women Police Occupying Barracks Accommodation with Their Civilian Husband The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Alkali Baba Usman has assured that no female police officer in police barracks across the country will be ejected for residing with their civilian spouses. The IGP gave the assurance while reacting to a signal purportedly originating from the Enugu State Police Command, that women police personnel occupying barracks accommodation with their civilian husbands should vacate before January 31, 2022. Police: Hit-and-Run Driver Killed Vanguard Reporter Tordue Salem The Nigerian Police Force  has said Tordue Henry Salem, the missing Vanguard reporter, was killed by a hit-and-run driver identified as Itoro Clement. EFCC detains former Edo governor Igbinedion over alleged N1.6bn fraud Lucky Igbinedion, a former governor of Edo state has been arrested and detained by officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja. Igbinedion is currently being questioned by the officials of the anti-graft agency in its Abuja headquarters for allegedly diverting N1.6 billion meant for the public.  Igbinedion was also said to have used the diverted funds to settle the debt which the company had incurred in the past.  the spokesperson for the commission, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed that Igbinedion is currently with the EFCC.

NDLEA Captures Suspected Drug Traffickers, Destroy Hectares of Hard Drug Farm in Edo The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Edo Command on Thursday, said it arrested 20 suspects in connection with illicit drug trafficking. Mr Buba Wakawa, State Commander of the agency disclosed this in an interview with the reporters in Benin. Wakawa said the suspects who were arrested in October included 18 males and two females. He also told the reporters that suspected cannabis sativa farms measuring approximately 6.9 hectares were destroyed by the command within the period. Wakawa also disclosed that illicit drugs seized from the suspects included 2,390.854 kilograms of suspected cannabis sativa, as well as psychotropic substance. He further revealed that the command also secured 11 convictions within the same period, while 32 cases were still pending in court.
