Delta 2023 Guber: Why Esievo best choice - Study Group

A Non political but formidable elites with members across Delta state and beyond with Code-Name; Delta Study Group, has charged the former Delta State Auditor-General, Local Government to run for the Delta State governorship seat.

The call on the former Auditor-General, Local Government, Chief Abel Ogheneovo Esievo became necessary having watched the political tarrain with Keen interest from 1999 till date and why the likes of Esievo with credibility be given the chance to run affairs of the state.

The Delta Study Group has taken time with painstaking to view several contestants for the Delta state governorship seat and without mincing words, presents the former Delta State Auditor-General, Local Government, Chief Abel Ogheneovo Esievo to Deltans as the best choice for the governorship seat come 2023.

The 2023 governorship space according to the group, should not be mistakenly thrown out for gamblers whose interest is fame and wealth without considering the common man, hence the group is looking towards the likes of Chief Abel Ogheneovo Esievo who through his career, built bridges of friendship across the 25 local government areas as the immediate past Delta State Auditor-General, local government.

A state like Delta with different ethnic nationalities and diverse views can only be left in the hands of those that are familiar with the terrain, and not political office seekers who see nothing beyond the wealth and power they will acquire without recourse to those who may have given them their mandates.

In a statement by the Principal of the group, Mr. Elliot Ebeizimor, Delta South, Principal Secretary, Ms Juliet Oniocha, Delta North and the Facilitator, Survey Philips Emuejevoke, Delta Central, said the group's choice of Chief Abel Ogheneovo Esievo emanated from voice votes among the keenly contestants.

In the group's statement which reads further, says, "Chief Abel Oghenevo Esievo (JP) was born into the family of Chief Wilson Sunday Esievo of Ekpan-Ovu of the Agbon Clan  in Ethiope East local government area of Delta state.

"He had his elementary education at Nana Primary School, Warri, where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate. He then proceeded to Okotie-Eboh Grammar School, Sapele, where he obtained the West African School Certificate. 

"His first degree was at the University of Benin from where he graduated with B.Sc. honours degree in Business Administration. He later went back to the same university for his second degree where he obtained a master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA).

"He later enrolled into the Nigerian College of Accountancy, Jos, where he qualified as a Certified National Accountant (CNA). He was also inducted as an Associate Member of Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (ACTI) and was later called into the Fellowship of the Association of National Accountants  of Nigeria (FCNA).    

"In his quest to improve on his professional  and leadership skills, he enrolled for ‘Finance  for Senior Executives’ under the Executive Education Program of the prestigious Harvard Business School (HBS), as well as training on ‘Leading and Managing People’ at the Wharton University of Pennsylvania, both in the United States of America (USA).

"On completion of his University education, he enrolled into the mandatory National Youth Service Corp program before he started his civil service career with the defunct Bendel State Civil Service, now  Delta  State Civil   Service, as   Audit   Officer II. He later rose through the ranks and until his retirement on 26th January, 2021, he was the Auditor-General (Local Government), DeltaState.

"From that 26th January, 2021, that Chief Abel Ogheneovo Esievo retired as Delta State Auditor-General, Local Government, all eyes have been on him as a manager of people and seeing him as the best choice for Delta state as the next governor of Delta state."

Breaking: ASUU suspends 2-week warning strike

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has suspended its two-week warning strike it declared last week across all public universities in the country. The union announced the suspension on Wednesday at a press conference held at its headquarters in Abuja. President of ASUU, Chris Piwuna, who read a prepared speech before newsmen, explained that the development followed intervention by the Senate and some other well-meaning Nigerians. However, he sad the National Executive Council of the Union resolved to give the government a one-month window to address all contending areas.
