Group Advices FG Not to Reappoint Dokubo as Coordinator Amnesty Programme

A Civil Society group, Ijaw People's Development Initiative (IPDI), on Wednesday called on the Federal government and
President Muhammadu Buhari not to accede to the request from few selfish individuals to reappoint Professor Charles Dokubo as the Coordinator of the Amnesty Programme.

The director proammes of the group, Comrade Ezekiel Kagbala who made this known during a press briefing in Warri  Delta State disclosed that there have been clandestine moves by some who do not mean well for the Niger Delta,  lobbying for the reappointment of the suspended coordinator of Amnesty Programme.

He however, warned that Reappointing Dokubo could generate fresh tension capable of truncating the existing Peace in the region.

He said that, "Reappointing him is a clear indication that Charles Dokubo is being used to cover up and perpetuate corruption in the Amnesty office"

"We are calling on President Buhari to kindly appoint a substantive coordinator from the region that was most volatile in agitation noting that the region has thrown up personalities that are vast in cubbing restiveness and have the Peace building capacity to address issues before it degenerates into another face of unrest.

Reappointing Dokubo will not be ideal in this trying moment of our nation’s history, especially where there is the urgent need for the youths to contribute meaningfully to the peace, Security and development of the fragile Niger Delta.

The group is inadvertently opposed to the appointment of an already tested hand whose leadership was very appalling.
It is against the woeful and abysmal failure in leadership by Charlse Dokubo that the group is forced to request the federal government to backpedal on any choice that will end up as a threat to peace and stability of the region
