Sheriff Mulade Quiz and Essay Competition: Warri North LGA Celebrate as Sucess Dariji clinched first position, Gets Scholarship, Instant Cash Prize.

The Egema people of Warri North Local Government area was made proud recently as  JSS 2 student of Tsekelewu Secondary School, Miss Success Dariji won the fourth edition of Comrade Sheriff Mulade Inter Local Government Quiz and Essay Competitions for Secondary Schools in Delta State.

  Participants from Warri South, Warri South-West and Warri North Local Government Areas of Delta State who emerged second and third position in the competition also smiled home with cash prizes, learning materials such as school bags, books and others.


The organiser and chief sponsor of the programme, (AMB) Comrade Sheriff Mulade rewarded the winner with a scholarship and cash prize to success for clinching the first position.

Other notable participant was Ojiko Ebiye, Gbaraun Grammar School, Oporoza, Gbaramatu, Warri South-West Local Government Area, came out tops in the Essay competition.

The national Coordinator, Center For Peace and Environmental Justice, CEPEJ Comrade Sheriff Mulade and team has done similar programme in other part of  Delta State to encourage and support accessibility to good education.

 Sheriff Mulade in his remarks, noted, “it is only education that has the driving force to eradicate conflict among various ethnic groups living in Nigeria especially Ijaw and Itsekiri brothers”.
According to him, lack of early education in the rural areas led to denial of so many opportunities and underdevelopment of rural/riverine communities in the past.



He explained the essence of the quiz and essay competition was to bridge the gap between pupils and students of riverine/rural schools and their urban counterparts in terms of academics.
Comrade Mulade who is the National Coordinator, Centre for Peace and Environmental Justice, CEPEJ, cum Global Peace Ambassador, appealed to government at all levels, NGOs and well -meaning individuals to pay more attention to education.

Retired police officers protest over unpaid pensions

Some retired police officers under the contributory pension scheme on Tuesday, May 21, protested at the National Assembly over alleged several months of unpaid pensions with a call on President Bola Tinubu to remove them from the scheme. The protesters decried the extreme challenges they endure, saying that the National Pension Commission (PENCOM) has failed to pay their entitlements for several months causing them and their families untold hardship. The aggrieved retired police officers also wrote a Save Our Soul (SOS) letter to the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, calling for an urgent intervention.
