The Ijaws in Egbema Kingdom, Warri-North Local Government Area, Delta State has been thrown into mourning following the death of the Pioneer Chairman of Ijaws in Warri, Captain Joseph Ugedi.

He died at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, UBTH, Benin, the Edo State capital on Thursday 2nd May, 2019 after a brief illness. 

the deceased, CAPT. Joseph Ugedi is hailed from Opuama, Warri North Local Government Area Delta State, he was the Chairman of Warri Ijaws in an area popularly known as Button Mango NPA, Warri Delta State.

He was an outstanding politician, a business man, an activist and the owner of Seikiri Table Water in Warri. He was loved, respected and well spoken of by his people as youths counselors, Women, government officials pays condolence visit to the families at his residence, Ijaw quarters Warri.

The Counselor representing Ward 12 Warri North LGA, Austine Sule who spoke with FocalPoint Reports described the deceased as  man of integrity and exemplary leader who helped to restore peace during the Warri crises and play key role in Niger Delta Development.

The coordinator, Egbema liberation movement, Prince Binikuro described the death of CAPT. Joseph Ugedi as shocking painful and unfortunate, he urged the entire Egbema people to rally round the family of the deceased in this moment of grieve as.

Retired police officers protest over unpaid pensions

Some retired police officers under the contributory pension scheme on Tuesday, May 21, protested at the National Assembly over alleged several months of unpaid pensions with a call on President Bola Tinubu to remove them from the scheme. The protesters decried the extreme challenges they endure, saying that the National Pension Commission (PENCOM) has failed to pay their entitlements for several months causing them and their families untold hardship.
