ACTIVIST APPEALS TO GOVERNOR OKOWA TO RESUSCITATE OSUBI AIRPORT
A Delta-born human and environmental rights advocate, Comrade Mulade Sheriff has appealed to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to resuscitate Osubi Airport near Warri, Delta State.
Comrade Mulade noted that Osubi Airport is very crucial and important to the economy of Delta state. He therefore called for the expansion of the airport, especially its runway, so that bigger aircrafts can land there with a view to attracting more commerce to the State.
He said the importance of Osubi Airport stems from the fact that Warri is the commercial nerve centre of Delta State, especially because it hosts multi-national companies, as well as other private companies doing business in the town hence the need to urgently revive the ailing airport.
He lamented a situation where passengers travel to other state airports like Benin in Edo State, Owerri in Imo State and Port Harcourt in Rivers State to catch their flights thereby robbing Delta State of revenues from such flights.
The Niger Delta born environmentalist urged the Governor to intervene and make the Osubi Airport functional like Asaba Airport in order to shore up revenue of the State and increase commercial activities in Warri and its environs.
