INEC Picks November 16 For Kogi , Bayelsa Governorship Elections The Independent National Electoral Commission (lNEC) has picked November 16 as new date for the conduct of governorship election in Kogi and Baylesa States, respectively. According to a statement signed by Festus Okoye, National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education, the initial date of November 2 was shelved following the appeal made to the Commission on Tuesday by stakeholders from Baylesa State. Our findings revealed that Bayelsa State indigenes on Tuesday stormed the national headquarter of the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC). Led by the State Deputy governor, Rear Admiral Gboribiogha Jonah (rtd) they demanded for shift in the initial date fixed for the governorship election in the state by the electoral umpire. Cybercrime Suspects Unleash Dog On EFCC  Operatives Detectives from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) from Ibadan zonal office were on Thursday attacked by dangerous dogs by suspected internet criminals in attempt to resist arrest. The EFCC officials got a dose of ‘corruption fighting back’, as the dog unleashed attacks on them. Upon receipt of intelligence reports and launch of preliminary investigations into their alleged illegal activities, officers of the commission had stormed the suspects’ hideout at Agara area of Ibadan at the early hours of the day. With an expressed endorsement yesterday by the Senate of a bill earlier passed by the House of Representatives to that effect, June 12 has become fully immortalised, after about 26 years of agitation for the date to be accorded this recognition. Consequently, the National Holiday Act has been amended to move Nigeria’s Democracy Day from May 29 to June 12. However, May 29 remains sacrosanct as the date when one administration will hand over to a succeeding one in compliance with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution regarding the tenure of administrations in the country. VIO agent Kill Ebonyi Elder Statesman Over Vehicle Particulars

Two members of Vehicle Inspection Officials (VIO) on Tuesday allegedly killed a prominent politician in the state, Chief Geoffrey Mgbada, during a fracas over vehicle particulars. The incident occurred along Presco/Ezza Road axis of Abakaliki. The late Mgbada and his wife were said to be on their way to their farm early in the morning when the VIO officers stopped them and an argument ensued which led to one of the VIO officers pushing him and he fell and hit his head on the concrete road and died instantly. He was a former member of the Abakaliki Capital Territory Development Board and Secretary of the Ebonyi Elders’ Council.
