KIAGBODO BEGS FOR ELECTRICITY AS COMMUNITY LAMENTS ZERO INFRASTRUCTUR

KIAGBODO BEGS FOR ELECTRICITY AS COMMUNITY LAMENTS  ZERO INFRASTRUCTURE

The people of Kiagbodo in Burutu local government have lamented what they termed  zero infrastructural development of their community by the Federal and State government. FocalPoint reports visited the community yesterday for community Reports and witnessed the sorry state of a government Hospital that seemed abandoned for weeds and wide animals to inhabit.

A community youth leader in Kiagbodo, Mejuya Tamaramiebi who spoke With FocalPoint Reports at the country home of the Ijaw national leader, Chief Edwin Clark, said "It was sad to note that, access roads to Kiagbodo community are deplorable and abandoned".

He also added that Kiagbodo community have been in darkness without electricity for a long time, adding that it is so unfortunate that they continue to complain about the neglect.

While noting that there is urgent need for government presence to be felt in the area, according to him, the problem of development in the community are numerous.

Weeds and water hyacinths makes fishing and transportation activities in waterways in and around Kiagbodo difficult, the people can hardly boast of any form of commercial life or business activity. The open space in front of the community town hall is the place they call their market square, no structure no roof, indeed a pathetic headquarters of Ngbilebri Kingdom and home of prominent international personalities.

Kiagbodo community is the country home of Chief Edwin Clark who is a former Federal commissioner, Niger Delta based nationalist, the Ijaw national leader and adviser to the former president of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan. The community also produced the immediate past Burutu local government chairman Hon. Ebikeme Clark, the popular play and poem writer Professor John Pepper Clark, Vice Chancellor, Delta State University Abraka, Professor Victor Peretumode and host of prominent personalities in Nigeria.
