Christians tasked on healthy fasting at Lent

Lent, known as Quadragesima (Fortieth), is the period of forty days preceding Easter (excluding Sundays)

Drink firm, La Casera Apple, has commended Christians in the country currently observing the Lenten fast leading up to Easter celebrations.

The period of Lent is a time of solemn observance and preparation for the celebration of the death and resurrection of Jesus, started 21 days ago with Ash Wednesday.

The apple soft drink, which is the flagship brand of The La Casera Company (TLCC), has enjoined Christians to imbibe a healthy living habit through fruit consumption during Lent as using fruits to break fasting helps to ensure the body gets rehydrated quickly.

Chinedum Okereke, managing director of TLCC stated that the brand felt it necessary to support its teeming consumers and other Christians during this period. ‘‘We view our consumers as members of one family and so we embark on this journey with them as they navigate the various aspects of their lives, in this case, the spiritual aspect’’.

Okereke added that they are always looking at new ways to delight consumers and have put a lot of creative consideration into the brand. “We ensure that we are ahead of the curve, while still retaining the high quality we have always been known for.’
