IJAW GROUP BLOWS HOT OVER KILLING IN RIVER STATE, WARNS MILITARY PERSONAL

The Niger Delta right group,  Ijaw Peoples Development Initiative, (IPDI) groans over recent killings in Abonnema town, River State.

In a statement released to FocalPoint Reports by the spokes person of the group, Comrade Daniel Ezekiel described the blood letting, destruction of properties and killing of Ijaws in Abonnema Town , Akoko Toru local government area of Rivers state by the Nigerian military for the past two weeks as disheartening, adding that before and during the presidential election, the ancient town was turned into a war zone due to do or die politics.  In the process 0ver 30 innocent  Ijaw youths were killed by trigger happy Nigerian Army.

Condemning the killings he said “How do we explain this love for spilling of blood of innocent Nigerians and wanton killings ravaging the land, when Nigeria is not at war."

The group accused the Nigerian Military of trying to commit genocide in Abonnema over the unfortunate death of two of its officers.

IPDI also condemn the barbaric  attack on Nigerian Army who are performing their official duties as result of that residents of Abonema have relocated due to fear of revenge for the death of the two officers."

He said “As much as we are against any criminal act in Ijaw land, we equally kick against this horrendous and destructive show of strength because primary role of government is  protection of live and property, not to compete for retaliation."

Retired police officers protest over unpaid pensions

Some retired police officers under the contributory pension scheme on Tuesday, May 21, protested at the National Assembly over alleged several months of unpaid pensions with a call on President Bola Tinubu to remove them from the scheme. The protesters decried the extreme challenges they endure, saying that the National Pension Commission (PENCOM) has failed to pay their entitlements for several months causing them and their families untold hardship.
