BARRISTER SMOOTH REVEALS WHY NIGER DELTA REMAIN UNDERDEVELOPED

... SAYS BITTER POLITICS HINDERS DEVELOPMENT OF NIGER DELTA, CALL FOR POLITICAL TOLERANCE

By Hannah Tsedo (FPR)

The Ijaw born Niger Delta musical legend, Chief Barrister S. Smooth has lamented reasons why Niger Delta region remains underdeveloped, noting that the region is blessed with leaders who poses the political powers needed to attract sustainable development to the region.

In a statement released to FocalPoint Reports yesterday in Yenegua Bayelsa State, Smooth urged Niger Delta leaders, specifically Ijaw people to avoid selfish and bitter politics in their various parties, adding that it will be of better political advantage to the region if the people spread themselves to other parties for development to come from all sides.

He said "Bitter and selfish politics has done more harm than good to us as a people. The south south is blessed to have produced a president under PDP led government, yet the region is still highly under developed in every sector. The current PDP governors from South south are not helping matters, they are busy playing politics with bitterness rather than developing our region".

The Musical Icon further added that  APC at the center led by President BUHARI is doing well, but south south leaders who are in the party are playing politics of selfish ambition. He expressed disappointment over those in the party that are working against the progress of APC in his region. "They appoint their stooges into offices there by denying credible person the opportunity to help to develop the region".
