BARRISTER SMOOTH CONGRATULATES BUHARRI, URGE HIM TO DEVELOP NIGER DELTA

The Niger Delta Musical legend, Chief Barrister Soja Smooth, on Wednesday congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari on his re-election. Smooth, who was appointed by President Buharri as a board member of Nomadic Education Commission, spoke with the News men in Abuja, he expressed happiness over the outcome of the election, saying it is “victory for the masses".

Smooth said that people voted for Buhari because of his integrity and selflessness. The Federal commissioner urged the president to ensure that developmental project that will eradicate unemployment is channelled to the Niger Delta, adding that Ijaws in Niger Delta gave President Buhari the needed support that culminated into his electoral victory.

He further added that “Nigerians who valued and acknowledged the hard work of Buhari voted for his return as the country's president till 2023.” He was optimistic that the president would give Niger Delta the needed developmental attention.

He further appeal to candidate, senators and House of Representative member who lost reelection bid to accept the outcome in good faith adding that Nigerians value their efforts, commitment and desire to serve the country.

Retired police officers protest over unpaid pensions

Some retired police officers under the contributory pension scheme on Tuesday, May 21, protested at the National Assembly over alleged several months of unpaid pensions with a call on President Bola Tinubu to remove them from the scheme. The protesters decried the extreme challenges they endure, saying that the National Pension Commission (PENCOM) has failed to pay their entitlements for several months causing them and their families untold hardship.
