Delta Assembly Tasks Ijaw Publishers on Professionalism
Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, RT. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor has urged members the Ijaw Publishers Forum to has tasked publishers to always double-check their facts before publication. Adding that there is need to balance whatever ever information that should be passed to the public.
The Speaker said this when a delegation of the newly-inaugurated National Executive Council of the IPF paid him a courtesy call at the State Assembly Complex on Wednesday, March 13th, 2024.
IPF President, Comrade Ozobo Austin in his presentation congratulated Guwor on his elevation, and commended the House member representing Warri South West Constituency for displaying dexterity and composure since his emergence.
Ozobo also commended Guwor for his commitment and contributions to the development of Delta State via Governor Sheriff Oborevwori's MORE Agenda.
The IPF President subsequently opened the doors of collaboration between the body and the legislature in the state.
Responding, Guwor commended the body for finding the need to front collaboration between the media and the legislature.
The Speaker charged the body to uphold the tenets of journalism viz; professionalism, objectivity and lack of bias.
Guwor further assured of delivering needed necessary support for the IPF to thrive.
The Speaker was joined by Emma Sinebe, Patani Constituency; Preyor Oboro, Bomadi Constituency; and Peres Oloye of Burutu II Constituency.
On the other hand, the IPF delegation included Oyinbi Onduku, Vice President; Tare Magbei, Secretary; Ezekiel Kagbala, Public Relations Officer; Friday Mingo, Treasurer; and Mike Ugedi, Financial Secretary.
Others were Ekpegha Tamaraupreye of South South Daily and Arex Akemotubo of Waffi TV.
