SUSPECTED ASSASSIN KIDNAPPED AND KILL RETIRED POLICE OFFICER IN DELTA

WARRI - SUSPECTED assassins on Friday evening at Effurun kidnapped and kill a retired police officer Paul Edike on his way from a function.

Joseph Edike, a family member revealed the horrifying incident to our reporter.

He stressed that driver of Edike who witnessed the incident reported to the family shortly after the kidnap.

That hours later the lifeless body of their father was found along Warri/Benin road.

According to him, "Our Dad was kidnapped on his way home on Friday evening, the driver came to tell us, later in the night, his lifeless body was found along Warri/Benin road.

"We suspect it as assassination in relation with the case our brother is having with some persons abroad.

"Since the case starred threat messages and calls have been made to us but we never knew it will get to the level."

The remains of the deceased has been deposited for further action and report to police.

The family member stressed that they were careful of involving piece because of the issues their brother has abroad.

Retired police officers protest over unpaid pensions

Some retired police officers under the contributory pension scheme on Tuesday, May 21, protested at the National Assembly over alleged several months of unpaid pensions with a call on President Bola Tinubu to remove them from the scheme. The protesters decried the extreme challenges they endure, saying that the National Pension Commission (PENCOM) has failed to pay their entitlements for several months causing them and their families untold hardship.
