Delta Communities Clash: GOVERNOR'S AIDE, IJAW RIGHT GROUP PAYS CONDOLENCE VISIT

As Ogbe-Ijoh people in Warri South-West local government area grieve the loss of their son, Taylor Agofugha, a chieftain of the African Democratic Party, ADC, government officials Ijaw right group has paid a condolence visit.

Aide to the governor of Delta State, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, Comrade Daniel Ezekiel accompanied by the president, Ijaw People's Development Initiative, IPDI, Comrade Ozobo Austin, has paid a condolence visit to the bereaved family at Ogbe_Ijoh community, Warri South-West local government Area.

The the Governor's  aide and the Ijaw group gave their condolences messages and urged the bereaved family and members of the community to remain law abiding despite what had happened.

The IPDI leader, Comrade Austin Ozobo, said late Taylor was a former member of IPDI,  his death has brought grief to the group. 

He  called on security agents and governor of the state, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa to fish out the culprits as that is the only ground they will believe that the crime was perpetrated by criminals.

Meanwhile, the community leaders expressed disappointment over governor Okowa's inability to implement resolutions reached in a view of sharing the disputed parcel of land to restore final peace.

"It was very unfortunate, Taylor was killed in his house, since the conflict, he was not sleeping in his house because of the bad location of his house but the sudden peace Accord made him to go back to his house which he abandoned a year ago to do some maintenance"

They lamented "we were deceived with fake peace Accord to create an avenue for further attacks on our community and now they have done their worst, we must retaliate for the death of Taylor Agofugha, except the perpetrators are apprehended and handed over to us"

Speaking further the  SSA on security, Comr. Ezekiel Daniel assured the community of government intervention in the situation on ground and that the issue of the slain Taylor would be addressed in no distance time.

He added ,"we are here for on- the -spot -assessment visit, to sympathize with the bereaved family and the entire community of what has befall the community"

Ezekiel stressed "the State government is not happy about the ugly incident, we do not see this matter as communal conflict but want to treat it as criminal matter so that more lives will not be endangered"

The SSA added, 'the government of Delta State, led by Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa is committed to restoring peace between Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh communities, I appeal with you not to make any retaliatory moves as such will only jeopardize the peace efforts of the state government"

The SSA went further "those who perpetrated the killing of Taylor Agofugha will be fish out as security agents have started doing their work" we have been abandoned to die by notable leaders in our community"

The leaders posited that except the culprits are apprehended and handed over to the community ,they would go for further showdown with their suspected neighbours in no distance time.

They lamented "we were deceived with fake peace Accord to create an avenue for further attacks on our community and now they have done their worst, we must retaliate for the death of Taylor Agofugha, except the perpetrators are apprehended and handed over to us"

Retired police officers protest over unpaid pensions

Some retired police officers under the contributory pension scheme on Tuesday, May 21, protested at the National Assembly over alleged several months of unpaid pensions with a call on President Bola Tinubu to remove them from the scheme. The protesters decried the extreme challenges they endure, saying that the National Pension Commission (PENCOM) has failed to pay their entitlements for several months causing them and their families untold hardship.
