..... Olu Says Ijaws are Welcomed to the Palace Anytime, Royal Family Partly Ijaw From Isaba,

The Olu of Warri, His Majesty Ogiame Ikenwoli,  on Tuesday expressed joy as the Ijaw/ Itsekiri peace and unity cup 2019 signals hope, development and peaceful coexistence during a visit to the palace.

The Warri monarch who received the local organising committee of the tournament led by the initiator,  Comrade Sheriff Mulade and its chairman, Hon. Peter Nwobcha to the palace.



 The monarch gave his royal blessings and promised support for the tournament as he  appreciates the courtesy call by the local organizing committee and called on  Deltas to see themselves as one.

The Olu of Warri urged the organisers of the tournament to seek other ways apart from football in ensuring that the message of tolerance for one another, peaceful co- existence and nation building is preached through out the nooks and crannies of the state.  

He further noted that Ijaws are welcome to the palace, stressing that peace is a must, Ijaw Itsekiri are one, even the royal family is partly Ijaw from Isaba, Warri South West local government area.







The Monarch urged sheriff Mulade to advocate for the opening of Warri and Koko ports facilities to help create job opportunities, stressing that the  issue of unemployment, kidnapping and insecurity will be a thing of the past. 

Expressing their appreciation the chairman of the LOC, Honorable Ken Nwamucha and  Comrade Sheriff Mulade both thanked the royal father for a warm reception and acceptance to be the royal father for the tournament.

He Said, “We are still going to reach out to other notable traditional rulers in the region  so that they too can support the good job we are doing at the Ijaw/Itsekiri peace and unity cup football tournament. ” 

 "Mulade peace cup which kicks off on the 16th of November with the officials draws for the tournament scheduled to hold on the 6th of November, 2019 Sixteen clubs, comprising  eight teams each from the two ethnic tribes, Ijaw / Itsekiri,taking part".

Retired police officers protest over unpaid pensions

Some retired police officers under the contributory pension scheme on Tuesday, May 21, protested at the National Assembly over alleged several months of unpaid pensions with a call on President Bola Tinubu to remove them from the scheme. The protesters decried the extreme challenges they endure, saying that the National Pension Commission (PENCOM) has failed to pay their entitlements for several months causing them and their families untold hardship. The aggrieved retired police officers also wrote a Save Our Soul (SOS) letter to the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, calling for an urgent intervention.
