Details Emerge as Ex-Rivers Administrator Ibas Meets Tinubu

The immediate past Rivers State Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), on Wednesday visited President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The development comes following the cessation of the six-month emergency rule in the state

Ibas, who left office on September 17 was received at Aso Rock in the company of the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, and the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede.

The former administrator arrived at the State House around 6 p.m. and was ushered into the meeting by Edun and Olukoyede.

Although details of the closed-door discussions were not made public as of press time, a source close to the Presidency hinted that the talks were linked to Ibas’ management of state affairs during the emergency period.

The meeting took place just three days after Ibas rejected moves by the Rivers State House of Assembly to probe expenditures during his six-month tenure.

The House, presided over by Speaker Martin Amaewhule, had during its first sitting after the return of democracy in the state resolved to scrutinise spending from the consolidated revenue fund, including contract awards and other financial decisions taken under Ibas.
