PDP Critiques Takeme's Governance: "Burutu LG Suffering from Catastrophic Misrule

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Burutu Local Government Area has launched a scathing critique of the administration of Hon. Julius Takeme as Burutu Council Chairman, Delta State, describing his governance as a "monumental failure" that has left the Burutu grappling with severe challenges. In a press conference held on Monday, party officials expressed their disappointment over the lack of tangible progress and development in the area since Takeme assumed office a year ago.

In a statement signed by the Acting Chairman, Burutu PDP
Comrade Jackson Agbor on Thursday, copies of which were made available to news in Warri, alleged that "The council chairman has reduced the council to a wasteland and a private estate where opportunities are squandered, public resources converted to private pockets.

The PDP's Burutu LGA accused Takeme of failing to address critical issues such as infrastructure, healthcare, and education, which they claim have deteriorated under his leadership.

"Party officials highlighted several key areas where they believe Takeme's administration has fallen short. They pointed to the crumbling state of roads, which they argue has hindered economic activities and access to essential services. "Farmers are unable to transport their goods to markets, and students are struggling to reach schools due to the poor condition of our roads," PDP lamented.

"It is succinct to state that the Burutu Local Government Council is among councils in Delta State that receive the highest allocation directly from the Federal Government. However, we witnessed LGAs with far less allocations have prudently channeled its resources into meaningful projects, yet Burutu, under Julius Takeme, has absolutely nothing to show. This is not just underperformance but it is a catastrophic misrule.

"We want to state unequivocally that  Hon. Julius Takeme is the worst Local Government Chairman, Burutu has produced since its inception. A chairman who cannot account for billions appropriated to the council, a man who cannot point to one landmark project in a year of being in office, has failed the people beyond redemption.

"Obviously, across the 11 federal wards of Burutu LGA, the evidence of neglect screams, health centres are empty shells, no doctors, no nurses and no equipment.

"Again, communities remain isolated, cut off by broken roads and collapsed culverts.
Youths languish in idleness, abandoned without empowerment, training or opportunities. Basic amenities are absent and the government feels farther from the people than ever before.

"Moreover, the very essence of local government is to bring governance closer to the grassroots, to provide clean water, accessible healthcare, working schools, feeder roads and an enabling environment for small businesses. Under Hon. Julius Takeme, Burutu people have instead been suffering acute hunger, hopelessness, stagnation and underdevelopment.
