Police Uncover Military-Grade Bombs

The Kaduna State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has uncovered a cache of military-grade explosives and assorted ammunition at a scavenger facility located in the Kudandan Industrial Area of Kaduna South Local Government Area.

FocalPoint Reports understands that the shocking discovery was made on August 2, 2025, following intelligence reports indicating the presence of suspicious materials suspected to be unexploded ordnance (UXOs).

In a statement released by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, the police revealed that the dangerous materials were part of a consignment of waste transported from Borno State, a region still battling insurgency and armed conflict.

“A specialised team from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit, led by its commander, was immediately deployed to the location. Upon inspection, the team confirmed the items to be unexploded military-grade ordnance bombs,” the statement read.

The EOD team promptly evacuated the explosives to a secure location where they were safely demolished in accordance with standard safety protocols.

Beyond the explosives, the operatives also recovered a locally fabricated revolver pistol loaded with six rounds, fifteen rounds of 7.2mm live ammunition, three live cartridges, and other assorted arms.

Following the recovery, the Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, ordered the immediate sealing of the facility to enable a full-scale sweep by the EOD unit to ensure no additional explosives remain on site.

CP Muhammad reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to public safety and warned scavenger depots and recycling companies against accepting waste from high-risk zones, particularly insurgency-ridden areas like the Northeast.

“All area commanders and divisional police officers (DPOs) have been directed to enforce this directive strictly and arrest any violators,” the police chief warned.

The Command has appealed to residents to remain alert and report any suspicious activity or items in their environment.

DSP Hassan emphasised that collaboration between the public and security agencies remains crucial in the ongoing effort to rid the state of threats to life and property.
