The Organisation for Human and People's Rights Protection and Humanitarian (OHPRPH) has issued a stern warning to Ghanaians against the blanket labeling of Nigerians as criminals. The statement, delivered by the National Secretary of OHPRPH, Comrade Okorie Samuel, comes in the wake of increasing negative sentiments towards Nigerians residing in Ghana.
During a press conference held in Warri Delta State, Comrade Samuel emphasized the importance of distinguishing between individual actions and national identity. "It is unjust and harmful to generalize the actions of a few individuals to an entire nation. Nigerians, like any other nationality, are diverse and contribute positively to the societies they inhabit.
We, as a human rights protection group, wish to express our deep concern regarding the recent "Nigeria Must Go" protests in Ghana. While we recognize the right to peaceful assembly and the importance of expressing grievances, we strongly condemn any actions that promote xenophobia, discrimination, or violence against individuals based on their nationality," he stated.
