Democracy day: Gbagi Unveils Platform for Youths to participate in Active Politics

As a call on Nigerian youths to take advantage of democracy in Nigeria,  former minister of State for education, Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi has unveiled the social movement platform for youths to participate in active politics.

In a statement to mark 2022 democracy day, the gubernatorial candidate commended founding fathers who struggled to establish democracy in the country.

He worried that the current socio-political and economic challenges plaguing the nation, has resulted in a threat to the democracy and unity of Nigeria, appealing that citizens should be fair and patriotic as ”no nation is free from challenges”.

He used the opportunity to call on Deltans to make up their minds, participate massively in the ongoing Voters Registration Exercise and get their Permanent Voters Cards (PVC) to cast their ballots for the Social Democratic Party come 2023 general elections.

He said the youths should be more proactive than employing reactive tactics, noting that SDP have a place for the youths to play active roles in the political life of the nation.

"SDP is a social movement, the oldest political party in Nigeria, without blemish. Leaders of the party in the past and currently, are not known for any corrupt activity neither is there any pending court cases.

"The party has come to take over Delta State. As we mark this year's Democracy Day, I use this medium to call on you not to make any mistakes that will affect your lives and that of your children and children yet unborn.

"It is not about me, Gbagi, it is about the future of Delta State, it about what we will leave for our children. The struggle is to give Delta a befitting legacy and infrastructural development that will stand the test of time.

”We are not where we want to be yet in our democratic march but we are also not where we started. There will always remain much work to be done in democratic consolidation and nation-building.  Therefore, we should never despair or contemplate a return to the undemocratic past that had cost us so much toil and blood to escape from" he added.

Woman Burned to Death, Accused of Kidnapping 7yrs Old Boy in Delta

By Tessy ogbemi An angry mob set ablaze a woman accused in a failed child kidnapping attempt in Agbarho community, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.  The incident happened on Wednesday, September 24, 2025.  An eyewitness disclosed at the scene of the incident at Ekwvere Road claimed that the woman hid the seven year old boy she allegedly abducted in a sack, adding that she was even carrying a Bible on one hand.  Community sources said some residents in the area accosted the lady when they observed the way she was dragging the sack, to know what she had in it.  "She was unstable when they asked her to disclose what she was carrying in the sack.
