Warri Kingdom in tears as Chief Nelson Utieyone Passes on

Delta State has lost one of her finest elder statesman and renowned Insurance guru in Nigeria, Chief Nelson A. Utieyone (JP) at the age of 80 years.

He reportedly passed on in the early hours of Tuesday 12 January, 2021 after a brief illness according to family sources.

Chief Utieyone until his demise was the Chief Executive Officer/ Managing Director of Nelson Uti Insurance Broker based in Warri, Delta State.

He was the “Ogun-Oyibo of Warri Kingdom” a.k.a Orurunagbakiridi, a philanthropist par excellence and the founder/promoter of the multi-million naira “Utieyone Educational Endowment Foundation”, a scholarship awarding organization he founded in 2007.

Pa. Utieyone is a foundation member of the prestigious and foremost Itsekiri apex socio-cultural organization-Warri Progressive Society, WPS, a.k.a Otonloye and member of some other very important/prestigious oganisations in Nigeria.

Retired police officers protest over unpaid pensions

Some retired police officers under the contributory pension scheme on Tuesday, May 21, protested at the National Assembly over alleged several months of unpaid pensions with a call on President Bola Tinubu to remove them from the scheme. The protesters decried the extreme challenges they endure, saying that the National Pension Commission (PENCOM) has failed to pay their entitlements for several months causing them and their families untold hardship. The aggrieved retired police officers also wrote a Save Our Soul (SOS) letter to the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, calling for an urgent intervention.
