PRINCE OVO FOUNDATION TO EMPOWER MALE & FEMALE YOUTHS IN DELTA 



In a bid to complement Delta State government effort for human capital development, a fast growing foundation in Nigeria, Prince Ovo Foundation (POF) in Sapele, Delta state has concluded plans to roll out its empowerment programmes for Deltans as the foundation comes to stay permanently to assist the less privileged in various communities.

As a Nigerian based philanthropic organisation committed to improving the quality life of the people of JESSE community and its environ at large, disadvantaged Nigerians, by supporting primarily health and education interventions implemented by Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), Community Based Organisations, Prince Ovo foundation welcomes donors partners and philanthropist.

The foundation whose primary objective was targeted toward helpless privileged, youths women in various communities with prerequisite skills such as tailoring, catering, hair dressing, welding/fabrication, aluminum work, electrical work and computer application, has deemed it necessary to also support education and orientation programmes in Delta communities.



The Chief Executive of the foundation, Prince Ogheneovo Omojevwe  in a press conference with journalist in Warri at its inauguration ceremony in Sapele, Delta State noted that the prince Ovo Foundation is the contact and reference point for empowerment programmes aimed at reducing unemployment in the area,

He said "As a matter of rural/community development, there is growing need to bring urbanization home by creating platforms and avenue for less privileged to access education, self-sustaining skills, productivity, health care and basics needs".

 "Prince Ovo foundation has made a  comparative analysis and observed that those domiciled in the rural communities are venerable to sociocultural and economic imperialism, thereby accelerating rural to urban migration which has reduced agro practices, human resources and productivity in the rural communities.

Prince Ovo Foundation as a non-profit organization is working to improve knowledge, behaviours and skills for young people and  encourage independent contribution of  youths towards sustainable growth and development across Niger Delta and Nigeria at large".

In an interactive section with the CEO of the foundation he noted that the core areas of focus by the foundation includes Education support programmes at the nursery, primary and secondary school level. Vocal skill acquisition and certifications.

"Prince Ovo foundation will ensure prompt intervention in education which will translate in  social welfare programmes, and reduced youth related crime by capitalizing on the approach of catching them young".

Retired police officers protest over unpaid pensions

Some retired police officers under the contributory pension scheme on Tuesday, May 21, protested at the National Assembly over alleged several months of unpaid pensions with a call on President Bola Tinubu to remove them from the scheme. The protesters decried the extreme challenges they endure, saying that the National Pension Commission (PENCOM) has failed to pay their entitlements for several months causing them and their families untold hardship.
